A Master's Themed Hole In ONE Par Tee
Master's Sunday seems like the perfect time to finally get around to blogging Vance's First Birthday Par-Tee! Y'all, I had as much fun planning this party as I did our wedding! As you may know if you've been following the Taylors for any amount of time, golf plays a huge part in our life. Mine and Chris Taylor's first date was go to play golf in our hometown, our wedding had a golf theme, we built a putting green in our back yard, so it was only fitting that we make Vance's Birthday "A Tradition Unlike Any Other."
I started planning this during the Masters of 2017, when Vance was just 3 months old! Chris is a big time golfer, so he was 100% on board. We started coming up with golf food puns, and then it just took on a mind of it's own!
Vance's invitations were designed by Anna Hatcher Design. Her template was SO easy to customize, and we even used her party pack for all of his signage, the food cards, and even thank you notes. Even though I have some design experience, this was the best $20 I spent on the whole party because it was a MAJOR time saver, and everything was perfect in 10 minutes, instead of 10 hours. Anyone else hate designing for themselves? Hire a friend!
We had just over 60 family and friends join us and his party started at 1 o'clock (to accommodate his nap time), so we didn't want anyone to leave hungry. Our menu was as follows: Pizza "Slices," Sand"Wedges," "Birdie" Bites (chicken), "Chip" Shots, "Best Ball" Caprese on Golf Tees, Grapes on Golf Tees, Pimento Cheese, Donut "Balls" and whole dessert spread. Everything was delicious, we had almost no leftovers, and the best part is, I did't have to cook any of it! I hired my friends (and favorite local restaurants) to do what they do best!
For drinks, we served, Lemonade, Sweet "Tee," and Arnold Palmers, and then the Adults had their own Clubhouse Keg with what CT likes to call "Swing Lube."
My friend Minnie of Sweet Puff Candy made the cutest Golf Ball Cotton Candy Puffs with the Titleist logo as our party favors and my friend Stacey of Cupcakes & Confetti made all of the cupcakes and Vance's Birthday Cake. Guests took the Cotton Candy and these custom Par-Tee Cups Home as favors. It's not a Taylor party unless something features my handwriting, right?
I love a theme, so I started decorating our home about a week prior to the party! I made the yarn tassles to match all of our party colors and turned our fireplace into a Pro Shop. I purchased these sets of clubs from Wal-Mart for all of Vance's friends who are big enough to walk. These also doubled as a fun party game.
Chris ordered caddie bibs for us to wear and we are already planning to re-use them for our future Halloween costumes, and hey! If V is playing in the Master's one day, I already have my outfit.
We always love a good photo booth to capture memories, so this time we had two different stations for pictures. I used streamers and silver balloons from Target and Hobby Lobby to create these backdrops. I bought these photo booth props, encouraged people to step right up, and fun was had by all. It always takes a few minutes to get the photo booth rolling, everyone is shy, but once they get started, it's on!
Vance's cake smash was the highlight of the party, and I've never seen another kid dive right in like he did! That boy loves some cake! And Stacey did such an amazing job, it was absolutely delicious! She even made the golf ball out of a cake pop, so it was edible (and PARfect) for Vance's little hands.
I DIY'd This Golf Cart with some spray paint and a dream, just three days before the party. I bought a cozy coupe and this spray paint and then created interlocking golf club decals on my silhouette. He LOVES this golf cart, and it was totally the best gift we could have given him. This thing is my pride and joy and it also made the PAR-fect addition to his one year photos with Kasey Brooke Designs.
If you're looking for gifts for a one year old, some other faves were a Build a Bear Gift Card, NC Zoo Passes, This Doggie Rocker (looks just like Teddy), This Little People Golf Set, This Foam Golf Set, Money for his college fund and So.Many.Fun.Toys.
I will admit, I got teary eyed watching everyone sing Happy Birthday to our little man and seeing SO many people we love in the same room. We all held hands and thanked God in prayer for how much JOY Vance has brought into each of our lives this year and how much Chris and I appreciate the support and encouragement of our family and friends.
And that includes YOU! Thanks so much for following along, supporting our family business and making all of this possible. I am thankful everyday that you are a part of our lives. Thanks for celebrating with us!

Your theme is absolutely adorable. I was wondering where you purchased the golf cart. My Grandsons 1st Birthday party is coming up and it is also golf themed.
Your timing is perfect! My little man turns 1 in April – he was almost born on Master’s Sunday, but my labor turned into a marathon, not a sprint (🤣), and so I want to do a Hole in ONE first birthday party for him, too! I couldn’t get the links to the invitations to work. Does she still do design?
This is SO cute! My 18 month old is obsessed with golf and I’m looking at him being a golfer for Halloween. Any chance you have a tutorial for the golf cart you made of his Cozy Coupe? I would love to make it for him to ride around the neighborhood while trick or treating!
