It's a BOY!

Tomorrow we will celebrate 23 weeks of pregnancy with our sweet baby BOY!! It's been a month since I last updated y'all and wanted to share our fun news and baby happs over these last few weeks!

Photo from our one year anniversary session with Anna Paschal Photography. Baby Tay is actually in this pic too, but we had no idea at the time!

Chris and I actually went for an elective early ultrasound with Babygram in Raleigh (their owner Julie and her daughter are ASWN Calligraphy Alumni!) at 15 weeks and got the super exciting news that Baby Tay was a BOY!  This day was one of my favorite days of our entire pregnancy! We celebrated with a BLUE cupcake from my friends at The Cupcake Shoppe in Raleigh and shopped for baby boy goodies at the mall!  We shared the news with our families and close friends slowly over the next few weeks and waited for confirmation at our 20 week ultrasound to share the news with all of you!

I keep joking that I always buy TWO of things that I like, and I loved Chris so much I needed another one.

My first purchase upon finding out he was a boy were these cute charms from Moon and Lola to add to my bracelet.  One is a baby boy silhouette and the other is a V which just so happens to be his first initial ;)  We will share his full name with y'all once he makes his debut!  Chris's first purchase were those cute little BABY JORDANS in our announcement photo!  Is he going to be a cool Daddy or what?

Let me say, I would highly recommend an early gender scan to anybody who is excited about finding out!  For us, that appointment it is nothing but FUN and excitement!  We wore pink and blue and Chris shouted "yesss!" complete with a Tiger Woods fist pump when they confirmed a boy.  I cried the happiest tears.  Chris is the only Taylor grandchild in his family, so I knew how much it would mean to him to have a son.  We had a 10 minute scan and tons of photos to take home and share, not to mention they ordered us a cupcake surprise to enjoy after we got home.  I have never enjoyed another appointment more.  They even have a huge TV screen that they project the images onto so that the mama can have a great view instead of craning your neck to check out a 10 inch screen. Pure JOY was the best way I could describe it.  It was also a nice perk to be in on the gender secret 4 weeks early.

These last few weeks I have been practicing on THESE two cute little ones:  My nephew Westyn Rush and my best friend's baby girl Leighton Hope.  I see one or the other every week and it has been amazing to watch their sweet mama's care for them and help build my confidence as I had absolutely zero experience until now.

baby name sign like Leighton's available in the shop!

I finally have a baby bump and it was like I woke up one day and it was "whoop there it is!"  I am still very sick some days, but feeling MUCH much better overall since week 20 which is a miracle. I am still taking nausea meds, but they have dropped my dosage to only one per day instead of 4/day that I was taking before.  Thank you so much for all your prayers!

We have started our baby registry, chosen nursery decor and are finishing up our home renovations just in time for our baby shower in November.  We are taking a Babymoon/Birthday Celebration for Chris to Dallas, TX later this month to take in a Cowboys game and Magnolia Market (again!) in Waco.  It will be SO much fun to get away just the two of us one more time.

How far along: 23 weeks

Baby size: A Grapefruit, A bunch of grapes, a chinchilla, or my favorite, a Barbie Doll!

Stretch marks: a couple small ones have started to appear

Sleep: Praise hands for the Snoogle!  Sleeping pretty well right now.  Heartburn wakes me up often, so I keep Zantac beside the bed.  Lavender essential oil is being diffused on the reg.

Maternity clothes: Not really maternity, but LIVING in my Lululemon pants! They are super soft, stretchy and go over the bump!  Wear them to Yoga and pretty much everywhere else. I have a couple of fun maternity and non-maternity swing dresses from Old Navy and Boho Blu that I love.  I have purchased a couple of pairs of jeans, but haven't worn them yet.

Gender: sweet baby BOY

Movement: YES!! We actually felt the baby move for the first time this week!  I was on the phone with Chris thursday night while he was at work and thought I felt something and on Friday night, Chris was actually home too and able to feel him!  He was wiggling around like crazy.  I have been diagnosed with an anterior placenta so I was told that we may not feel him until later and Chris may not be able to feel him at all, so to have both happen in one day was incredible! Chris jokes that he works the night shift like his Daddy since we've only felt him around 10:30 - 11 p.m.

Best moment this week: Feeling him move!!!

Food cravings: Still Salads, Still Cheeseburgers, but feeling more like eating and being able to keep food down lately, so open to way more options than before.

Food Aversions:  Not necessarily aversions, but I find it hard deciding what to eat.  Chris will say "what would you like for dinner?" and it's like a blank slate in my mind.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I am mostly sick in the morning or at night, but weird or bad smells will make me vom within seconds.

Missing anything: Chris and I attended a wedding last weekend and I really missed drinking a beer or a glass of wine.  I wasn't feeling well either, so I kept loading my glass with all the lemons I could find and sipped away! Sour actually helps with nausea, in case you're wondering ;)

Symptoms: Nausea/Voms, but MUCH better than before, A little dizzy and shortness of breath but I have started taking Yoga 3-4 times a week and I am loving it! It's also helping with sore muscles and sciatic nerve pain that sometimes makes it hard to walk. ALL the heartburn. We think he'll have a full head of hair.

Looking forward to: More and more movement!  It's still rare that I feel him this week, so looking forward to even more.  Attending my first pre-natal yoga class tonight (have been taking regular classes these last few weeks), Babymoon with Chris to Dallas, Our Baby Shower, Decorating HIS nursery,

As for this sweet little business, my brain has been working harder than my hands coming up with lots of fun ideas for products for the shop!  I have decided I will teach my in-person classes through the end of November and then take a break to fill Christmas orders and rest and nest until baby arrives.  We are due February 9th and I would love to soak in being a mama for his first three months, so maternity leave is on the horizon.  I am considering keeping the shop open for non-custom items during this time, but I will know more once I am able to adjust to my new normal with a new boss in town!

the grandma shop!! my favorite new line

I am a blessed baby mama and I use/wear these almost every day!

Finally, I have created an online class with Studio Calico that is a great alternative to in person workshops that will be open through October 14.

I will be back to update y'all soon on our nursery finds, our baby shower and my favorite purchases!! Thanks so much for your words, prayers and encouragement in this season of life and business.  I am so grateful for all of you!
